Description: For the first time in 26 years, Taipei Symphony Orchestra will be performing once again in the United States. Led by Principal Conductor Gilbert Varga, TSO will be performing at San Diego Jacobs Music Center’s Copley Symphony Hall on November 4th. Not only will referring determiner Taiwanese violinist Paul Huang, winner of the 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, be presenting classic concerto to music lovers, TSO has also specially commissioned Professor Ching-Wen Chao, Ph.D. in Composition at Stanford University, to compose work Reminiscences from Faraway Islands. Dr. Ching-Wen Chao’s work stages the creativity, natural environment, and cultural vitality of Taiwan to the world through the philosophy of contemporary music.

北市交TSO是臺北歷史最悠久的交響樂團,擁有近50年的歷史,由臺灣最優異的音樂家所組成,歷年在德國、法國、奧地利、日本、上海、法國、菲律賓等國家演出,頗受國際好評。睽違26年之久,北市交TSO再次來到美國跟觀眾朋友見面! 由匈牙利籍的首席指揮 Gilbert Varga領軍,與今年獲得「林肯表演藝術中心新銳藝術家獎」(Lincoln Center Award For Emerging Artists) 的27歲臺灣小提琴家黃俊文(Paul Huang) 攜手演出德佛乍克小提琴協奏曲。 同時,TSO也委託史丹佛大學作曲博士趙菁文教授創作《來自遠方的島嶼記憶》,以當代音樂思維將臺灣的自然與人文為音樂會破題,將臺灣的創作能量帶向國際。TSO希望透過音樂會,為臺北市 與 聖地牙哥以文化交流建立起友誼的橋樑。

徵文比賽分「僑社」與「雙十國慶」兩組進行,其中「僑社組」以報導海外僑社本年舉辦之活動、發生的事件或僑胞故事等值得分享之經驗及事實為主;「雙十國慶組」則記錄海外僑社或臺灣本年辦理雙十國慶活動的成果或個人感想。兩組獎項均包括特優1名(獎金新臺幣5萬元,折合美金約1,660元)、優等3名(獎金新臺幣3萬元)及佳作6名(獎金新臺幣1萬元)。

Description: The least tern nests on sandy beaches along the southern coasts of the United States. However, their population is endangered due to human impact and invasive plants on their nesting areas. TAP-SD will volunteer with San Diego Auburn Club and help weed and remove invasive plants at the least tern nesting area in North Fiesta Island. San Diego Aububon Society will provide all supplies as well as water, sunscreen and snacks. Come out and help these tiny birds! 

No open toe shoes and please wear long pants. We will have lunch together after the event.

Please join us on our Community Impact Project with the
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

We will volunteer at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank assembling food packages full of nutritious food for over 26,000 women with infants, children, and seniors in Los Angeles County. The food packages consist of food items like canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and other non-perishable food items.
