Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation

Our Mission:

Achieving wellbeing is the essence of human existence, but a variety of obstacles can hinder the goal and cause misery. Tzu Chi is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to relieve the suffering of those in need, and create a better world for all. In Chinese, “tzu” means compassion, and “chi” relief: With open hearts and helping hands, our volunteers are here to serve you.

Hakka Foundation 客家基金會

Hakka Foundation is established to promote Hakka Spirit. The objectives of Hakka Foundation are to maintain Hakka Heritage, to promote the practice of self-improvement, self-sufficiency and independence, to serve the community with brotherly love, and to unite with nature in harmony. In peace, therefore, all beings have better lives together.

Miss Taiwan World & Mr. Taiwan World 世界台灣小姐與世界台灣先生選拔

The history of Miss Taiwan Pageant began in 2000 with the primary goal of promoting Taiwanese culture to young Taiwanese and to the peoples around the world.  The pageant is organized by the Miss Taiwan World Foundation which receives support from its many hard working volunteers and generous sponsors. One of the foremost responsibilities of Miss Taiwan World is to take on the role of representing the foundation as its ambassador to build relations and engage in productive interactions with other communities. Other mission goals include:

  • To promote the relations between Taiwan and other countries

  • To encourage Taiwanese’s participation and contribution to the society

  • To nurture relations and promote productive interactions with other Ethnic groups

  • To mentor and encourage young Taiwanese talents

  • To share Taiwanese heritage for the benefits of humanity

Miss Taiwanese American

The Miss Taiwanese American (MTA) Pageant (台美小姐選拔 ) is an annual competition held by the Taiwan Center Foundation of Greater Los Angeles (大洛杉磯台灣會館基金會) to find and encourage the next generation of leaders for the Taiwanese American community.

The Mission of the program is to:

  • Showcase young Taiwanese American women in a high quality production that will represent their culture, intelligence and talent.

  • Select intelligent young women as Taiwanese American ambassadors to serve and represent the Taiwanese American community.

North America Taiwanese Women's Association 北美洲臺灣婦女會 (NATWA)

NATWA was founded in 1988 as a non-profit organization.  
Our missions are as follows:

1. to evoke a sense of self-esteem and enhance women's dignity,
2. to oppose gender discrimination and promote gender equality,
3. to fully develop women's potential and encourage their participation in public affairs,
4. to contribute to the advancement of human rights and democratic development in Taiwan,
5. to reach out and work with women's organization worldwide to promote peace for all.

NATWA has more than 1,000 members in America and Canada.  Our organization is divided into seven geographic regions.  We have also established fourteen local chapters. In addition to the annual meeting in April, NATWA also holds mid-year leadership training camp in October.

North America Taiwanese Women's Association II (NATWA II)

The purpose of NATWA II is three-fold:

(1) to establish a network consisted of 1.5- and 2nd-generation Taiwanese American and Canadian women

(2) to cultivate and promote talents among young Taiwanese American and Canadian women

(3) to preserve Taiwanese culture and promote Taiwanese American and Canadian identity.

Orange County Taiwanese Association for Interculture, Inc. 柑縣台灣同鄉會 (OCTA)

Second Generation (2G)

Founded in 1997, Second Generation is a non-profit theater company dedicated to

  • Creating contemporary, world-class Asian American theater that reaches across cultural, generational and racial boundaries;

  • Cultivating the next generation of Asian American dramatic arts, by identifying and nurturing a vibrant community of actors, directors and writers from the established and emerging to the early-career and pre-professional; and

  • Connecting with new and underserved audiences, especially young Asian Americans and other groups historically underrepresented in mainstream American theater, towards the establishment of a vital and effective platform for Asian American voices to be heard on the world’s stage.

Senior Taiwanese Association of North California 北加州台灣長輩會 (STANC)

Taiwanese American Cultural Society of California 台美文化生活協會 (TACSC)

The Taiwanese American Cultural Society of California was founded in 2014 to provide a community for those with Taiwanese heritage living in the USA.

Taiwanese American Federation of Northern California 北加州台灣同鄉聯合會 (TAFNC)

TAFNC was founded in 1973 with the mission to promote Taiwanese and American cultural exchange. Through a spirit of peace and harmony, our organization hopes to establish an informed and involved Taiwanese community that interacts and co-exists with other diverse groups in California. We strive to be model citizens and contribute to the “Melting Pot” of this great country so that future generations will be proud of our achievements.

Taiwanese American Foundation (TAF)

The Taiwanese American Foundation (TAF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which focuses on developing personal leadership in youth and building strong cultural and social ties within the Taiwanese American community. TAF empowers youth to develop a strong sense of self, compassion and understanding of others, excellent interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities that will positively impact society in meaningful ways.

Taiwanese American Next Generation (TANG)

TANG is an all volunteer organization focused on creating a nurturing community for Taiwanese American youth. Through this community, we mentor our younger siblings and encourage them to become involved members of society through exploring our four themes: Identity, Community, Growth, and Family. Through our unique position in the community, we also see ourselves as a convener for our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation members, providing a rare opportunity for families and old friends to reunite. We serve campers from 1st graders through 12th grade seniors, and this year we are happy to announce a new program organized by parents, for parents – so come meet friends new and old!

Taiwanese Hakka Associations of America 美洲台灣客家聯合會 (THAA)

本會全名為美洲台灣客家聯合會,簡稱美台客聯,英文名稱為 Taiwanese Hakka Associations of America,簡稱 THAA。

宗旨:

  1. 發揚客家油量文化及傳統精神

  2. 促進客家鄉親團結及合作

  3. 促進台灣自由民主文化,爭取少數民族權益及尊嚴

  4. 增進所有台灣人之和諧團結,提高台灣人之國際地位

Taiwanese Hakka Association of Southern California 南加州台灣客家會 (THASC)

Taiwanese United Fund (TUF)

TUF is an arts and cultural foundation that celebrates Taiwanese American cultural heritages. Established in 1986, the foundation’s mission is to facilitate cultural exchange between the Taiwanese American community and other American cultural communities, hoping to enrich and expand our cultural experiences.

Taiwanese-America Seniors Association of Southern California 南加州台灣人長輩會 (TASA)

TaiwaneseAmerican.Org

Founded in 2006, TaiwaneseAmerican.org is a web portal site highlighting many of the interesting people, events and organizations that make up Taiwanese America. It is both a volunteer-driven website and a non-profit organization that intends to connect and promote those who identify with the Taiwanese identity, heritage, or culture. By establishing our niche within the broader Asian Pacific American and mainstream communities, we hope to collectively contribute to the wonderful and diverse mosaic that America represents.

To connect, inform and promote the people, events and organizations that represent the next generation of the Taiwanese American community.

 

Vision:

To create an allied community for Americans of Taiwanese heritage by intersecting the diverse paths and passions of all our people.
